Very Important Pre-Purchase Information

There are several important considerations to make before purchasing this particular CISS system.  Firstly, the inklink system utilises single use chips which can be reset using the rihac USB powered chip resetter (included).

**These chips are fitted with a non-user replaceable battery. Once this battery is dead (typically 6-12 months) the chip will need to be replaced

(replacement chips available from our chips section)

Currently there is only one chip manufacturer in the world and the only alternative is to use the OEM Brother chips. The OEM chips can be removed from your genuine cartridges and used with the CISS as an alternative as they do not have a battery.

Chip resetters work for a pre-determined number of resets only

Once that number has been exceeded a new chip resetter would need to be purchased. The 40x resetter will reset a total of 40 cartridges and the upgrade option of the 120x resetter will reset a total of 120 cartridges.  The amount of times you need to use the resetter is dictated by the chip you have fitted to the CISS as it simply resets the chip counter to read a full cartridge volume.  If using the LC3319 chips (as fitted to the CISS) you would expect to reset every 60mls for the Black and every 20mls for the colour cartridges.  If using chips from genuine Brother LC3317 cartridges you would expect to reset the black every 15mls and every 12 mls for the colours. If using the 'starter cartridge' chips from the cartridges which came with your printer you would need to reset as per the LC3317+20% as the starter cartridges hold 20% more than an LC3317 cartridge.

The MFC-J5730DW, MFC-J6730DW & MFC-J6930DW model printers have two paper trays which means the Inklink will need to be raised 7.5cm so it sits level with the first paper tray.

It is highly recommended that you consider the refillable cartridge option we offer for these printer models as they offers several advantages over a CISS for this printer model (you can view our refillable cartridge options here)

Pigment & Dye Ink FAQ's

What ink is in the genuine Brother cartridges?

The genuine Brother cartridges contain pigment ink.

What is the difference?

Pigment inks produce:
Sharper text
Less bleed
Significantly better UV fade life
Pigment inks are more expensive than dye inks and more likley to block printheads

Can I mix pigment and dye inks?

No. Mixing pigment and dye can damage your print head and Inklink system.

Can I change from dye ink to pigment ink?

Yes. However you cannot mix the inks. We recommend changing the entire system.

How do I know which ink I have in my Inklink?

Dye inks have a transparent look while pigment inks look more like a milkshake.

Which ink do you recommend?

If the printer is for business use and will have a high level of use we would typically recommend pigment ink. If the printer is used at home and less frequently we would suggest dye inks, particularly if fade life is not an issue.
